My memory-needs meter is all out-of-whack since at work I run code on clusters sometimes using 500 Skylake nodes where I have to run on half the cores because 40 cores and 256 GB per node isn’t enough memory per process. My question is: is the default 16 GB RAM enough? Or should I spring for 32 or 64 GB? So, I’ve decided to make my wallet scream and get a new MacBook Pro 16”.
Cue my 6-year old laptop not really liking it (mainly due to space restrictions it’s one of those MacBooks from the days of 128 GB being enough). Namely, I’m trying to learn Docker and due to no-sudo restrictions at work which makes it impossible/very hard, I figured I’d try it at home. All, this is probably a dumb and naive question but I figure one must start somewhere.
